Being new to crochet and not necessarily loving the look of lacy crochet is not really a good mix. New crocheter’s are given projects that use double or triple crochet which is the cornerstone of the lacy crochet look. Eh, not really my thing.

I was more interested in making a dense fabric, but am so over making scarves. I needed a project that looked great and was in the beginner/intermediate realm of crochet.

While at Borders, I found a great book called “The Crocheter’s Guide to Yarn Cocktails; 30 Technique Expanding Recepie’s for Tasty Little Projects”

Browsing through the book I found the greatest pattern for fingerless gloves called “Raspberry Margarita Fingerless Gloves”. My Mom, who is a bank teller and gets super chilly in the winter when she has to work the drive up, needed something to keep her warm but she still needed to be able to have her fingers to count money. Perfect.

I headed over to Knitorious, which is really close to my day job and picked up some really pretty yarn by Claudia Hand Painted Yarns in a color called Terra Cotta Blue. The pattern is done in single crochet and the worst part is counting the stitches.

Here’s the fruits of my labor;

The completed gloves on my hands. This picture shows the color of the yarn the best.

And a close up of the stitches;

I’ve enjoyed this pattern so much that I’m already on my third pair, more to come on those of course.
